Joey Rosin

Joey Rosin is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist and educator from Riverwoods, IL. He found his love for music at the age of nine while hearing John Coltrane’s monumental solo on “Giant Steps.” It was in this moment that Joey began his lifelong journey in sound. Joey’s years in school were fruitful; he shared the stage with Patti Austin, Shelly Berg, Gloria Estefan, Alan Ferber, Quincy Jones, Brian Lynch, Barry Manilow, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Charlie Watts, and John Williams. It was also at the University of Miami where Joey discovered his love for doubling; playing the flute and clarinet in addition to the saxophone. He has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Chicago Symphony Center, Ravinia Festival, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Chicago Jazz Showcase, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

While Joey loves to preform, he is passionate about teaching. He has been teaching since 2011. His teaching career began through the non-profit Bravo Waukegan in their Bravo Buddies Summer Camp. He began as the woodwind instructor and through the years worked to become the Artistic Director, managing all aspects of the month long camp. Joey has also served as the Director of Bands for Sistema Ravinia in Lake County and has worked as a teaching artist with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic. He is a Teaching Artist for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. Joey's mission is to equip his students with tools that empower them to explore and grow through music. To every lesson, Joey brings his wealth of knowledge, his contagious enthusiasm, and his ability to connect individually with each student.

Joey has recently graduated from the New England Conservatory with a M.M. in Jazz Performance.
