Roger was born in San Antonio, Texas where he first started playing at the age of 12, and by 16 he was already playing professionally throughout the city as well as across the state. Playing in the Tejano music scene with Grammy Award winning artists like Ruben Ramos, Little Joe, Sunny Ozuna, and Augie Meyers. After high school, he attended the University of North Texas where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from, as well as play lead trumpet in the award winning Two O’clock Lab Band and Latin Jazz Lab Band, as well as play with numerous artists during that time including Tito Puente Jr., Christian Mcbride, Danilo Perez, Brad Leali, Quincy Davis, Colleen Clark, and Tanya Darby amongst many others. In fall of 2019, Roger moved to New York City to further pursue his career in music and started to freelance as soon as he arrived. Playing with artists and bands such as , Tower of Power, Bobby Sanabria, Earl Gardner, Tony Kadleck, JC Hopkins, Kevin Blanc, Jason Marshall, Bryan Davis and many others.
