Shuji Watanabe
Bass
Shuji Watanabe began playing classical piano at age 3 in Kyoto, Japan, and he took up acoustic bass at age 20. He graduated Osaka City University (Bachelor of Arts) and Berklee College of Music (Artist Diploma). During his college years, he was selected for Berklee global Jazz Institute directed by Grammy Award Winning pianist, Danilo Perez. He studied with Billy Kilson, White Browne, Joe Lovano, John Patitucci and Ben Street. Shuji is currently based in New York and is finishing his master’s degree program at Manhattan School Of Music. He is studying with two of the most legendary bass players in the world, Ron Carter and Buster Williams.
